December is a time of reflection, a time to look back on the year you’ve spent and think, “Man, I wish I’d reread ________ and ________ this year!” Well, as far as I’m concerned, December is also our chance to revisit those books we’ve loved so much.
My reading regret for 2013? I didn’t touch a single Tortall book! Tamora Pierce is brilliant. Her worlds are vivid and wide, her characters flawlessly flawed. What better way to round out 2013 than to immerse myself her work?
And, on a whim, I thought, why not get Tumblr in on the act? Maybe you lot are smarter than me and have already reread most of these books at least once this year, but really, can you ever get tired of Tortall? I know for a fact some of my followers love Tamora Pierce, and I’m sure there’s more of you out there.
So, here’s the deal:
- Beginning December 1st—or any time in December that works for you—pick up a Tortall book.*** Maybe you want to start with Alanna, or maybe you’ve only read the Trickster’s Duet once and probably should get around to reading that again. (Oops.) Doesn’t matter where you start! Any Tortall is good Tortall, as far as I’m concerned.
- Read one book. Read eighteen books. Read a couple lines, pages, chapters. Read all your favorite scenes. READ TORTALL.
- And then, if you feel like it, post about it. Liveblog your thoughts, emotions, reactions. Tag it with REREADecember so others can follow along. Revel in a familiar, beloved world instead of regretting your missed opportunity.
That’s it, really! I hope to see some people participate
so I can stalk your blog for all things Tortall all December shh, and I’m hoping to maybe make this an annual thing? Maybe not Tortall every year, but there’s always at least one book I wish I’d made time for…
HAPPY REREADING! :)
